NCLCVF engages people to protect our environment and promote the well-being of our communities. We work to turn environmental values into NC priorities by engaging people in the democratic process, organizing in communities first and worst impacted by environmental degradation, cultivating environmental leaders, and advocating for policies that protect the health and quality of life for all North Carolinians, with an intentional focus on systematically excluded communities of color.

Influencing rulemaking/policy-making: watchdog rulemaking process & administrative advocacy with state agencies to improve NC environmental rules, advocacy within limits of 501h election advocate for joint priorities.

Expenses: $768K

Enforcement, Rulemaking, Policy Engagement: research environmental policy, host meetings, work with state and national groups on policy issues, raise public awareness of issues, with focus on clean energy and climate. Work with state agencies and commissions to improve rulemaking and enforcement. Provide detailed support and resources to the environmental community on clean energy issues. Work to ensure that the environmental community and state agency staff are working together and communicating effectively.

Capacity Building programs: work with NC groups on better civic engagement and environmental education participate in collaborative projects to improve capacity of groups to work together on environmental issues, including message development. Work to build stronger collaborations across environmental groups and allies that build collective capacity.
