The association sponsors an annual fall festival and annual meeting program to present educational material to members and to recognize member achievements.
The association serves as the official state agency for the national poultry improvement plan (npip). The npip is a cooperative federal-state-industry program developed for controlling certain poultry diseases. The iowa poultry association oversees iowa's involvement in the npip, regulates the importation and exportation of birds, issues permits for breeder flocks, along with administering laws and rules regarding poultry in iowa.
