Children's museum the one lawndale children's discovery center is designed to foster generational change with a focus on early childhood development and family health, driving better outcomes for children and caregivers. Planned by nlccc in collaboration with one lawndale, a coalition of 70+ north and south lawndale stakeholders, the center will create jobs for adults and youth, strengthen families, and attract visitors from all around chicago. It will be co-located with nlccc offices and a black-owned pharmacy. Over the last year, we have finalized architectural plans and have a contract in place with the exhibit designer, and hired an executive director. We raised 6 million to date and have lois with lenders for another 5 million. City council votes on the land transfer october 2025.

Grocery store the lawndale grocery store advances north lawndale's vision for a healthy and vibrant community. North lawndale has needed a full-service high- quality grocer for decades. Lack of access to fresh food has worsened with the recent closure of walgreens on roosevelt and homan, where many residents, especially seniors, were purchasing their groceries. Nlccc has been working with oasis, a black-owned grocery operator with the mission to "eradicate food deserts by providing fresh and healthy access to all- and a successful store in tulsa, oklahoma, to create a lawndale store that will include fresh meat and produce, deli items, a bakery, and dry goods. We have identified 3 potential sites on roosevelt road and are working with the local alderwoman to assist with land assembly. Nlccc received an updated market study from awg in september 2024 to provide sales projections based upon a footprint of 20,000-25,000 sf per the request of oasis. To finalize a site, we are working with the chicago trend corporation, a social enterprise. We believe that we can do a project of this magnitude for between 7.5-8.5 million.
