Mission
Our primary exempt purpose is charitable and educational in nature. The North Lawndale Greening Committee provide beautification services to the residents of North Lawndale in Chicago through its care of 21 community garden spaces. We also grow nutrient dense food in 23 urban gardens, including one farm, for the benefit of our residents. Currently, we give away 100 percent of the food we grow to those who need it in our communities. Our Garden to Table program also rescues food from restaurants, grocery stores, and other programs and gives away approximately 240,000 pounds of food a year in our community. We provide soil testing, soil prescriptions, and training for gardener and growers throughout the Chicagoland area. The Good Food Purchasing Program supports our urban agriculture program and our controlled environment agriculture program (a hydroponic farm). This support included supplies for our hydroponic farm, seeds, equipment, infrastructure, and salary support for our employees
