North Star Community Foundation benefits the citizens of Interior Alaska through philanthropy organizational capacity-building and public service as a community foundation.

Programs

Fairbanks Hopelink warming center provides a warm safe location for those experiencing housing insecurity during the coldest months of the winter during hours that other services and shelters are not available or accessible. The warming center operates between November and April from 10pm to 7am.

Santas Helpers operates primarily for one month prior to December 25th gathering donations of toys and money to purchase food boxes for up to 350 families in need during the holiday season. This all-volunteer group orchestrates many activities leading up to the day of distribution and involves the entire community.

All other regular project programming includes Northwood Books Arts Guild Fairbanks Housing and Homeless Coalition Dark Winter Nights storytelling troupe and several other member projects under the fiscal sponsorship of the North Star Community Foundation.
