North star of chester county operates an in-office pantry for our families. 1 volunteer maintains the pantry, checking inventory and refilling it as needed, logging 18 hours of service.

North star staffed an informational table at the 13th annual chester county single mothers' conference. The conference was held in april and included a resource fair, workshops related to finance, self-care, home buying, mentorship, work-life balance, legal aid, and childcare and other resources for moms in need. North star supported the children of our program participants, distributing donated school supplies, christmas gifts and books to 32 children. North star also paid an average of 320 each for 25 children to attend summer camp or participate in enrichment activities. North star provided financial spport for three individuals to pursue higher education, or achieve additional job certifications, in the form of registration fees, tuition and purchasing textbooks.

THE IHAC PROGRAM PROVIDES SERVICES TO NEEDY SINGLE PARENTS WITH DEPENDENT CHILDREN WHO ARE HOMELESS OR IMMINENTLY HOMELESS. PROVIDED SERVICES INCLUDE: FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, SOCIAL AND EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT AND GUIDANCE THROUGH MENTORING SERVICES. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE INCLUDES RENTAL AND BASIC NEEDS. EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT SERVICES INCLUDE FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT, EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT, PROGRAM WORKSHOPS FOR PERSONAL, FAMILY AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND OTHER EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES AS REQUESTED BY PARTICIPANTS. CHILDREN, OF THE FAMILIES, RECEIVE ENCOURAGEMENT AND ASSISTANCE TO PARTICIPATE IN ACTIVITIES STANDARD FOR THE AVERAGE FAMILY. PARTICIPATING FAMILIES MAY REMAIN IN THE IHAC PROGRAM FOR UP TO THREE YEARS, DEPENDING UPON THEIR INDIVIDUAL NEED AND PROGRESS. THE VISION OF IHAC IS FOR EACH PARENT TO ACHIEVE THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE LEVEL OF FINANCIAL AND PERSONAL INDEPENDENCE SO THAT THEIR FAMILY WILL THRIVE AND PROSPER IN THE FUTURE.
