Mission

SHORT TRACK PROGRAM: Its mission OF NBSSC is to provide a premier speedskating experience developing leaders on and off the the ice. Founded in 1952 by Ed Rudolph the Northbrook Speed Skating Club has been a nationally respected club for many years. In each Winter Olympics since 1952 the US Speedskating team has included at least one skater from Northbrook. The longevity of the club is a testament to the skilled training our skaters get as well as to the welcoming family-style experience the club offers. Our club welcomes skaters of all ages.We offer Short track program for beginners group 3 intermediate group 2 and advanced group 1 skaters. At each level the skaters are working with coaches to setup and achieve specific training goals. Advancement between groups is based on coachs recommendation and upon demonstration of the skills required to move up to the next level. Membership is currently 75 skaters and families.

Northburke Open- This is a competition we put on for our skaters and other clubs skaters in the US who would like to race. Typically we have skaters from the area and the Midwest competing. This is a one day event and on average the club has over a hundred registrants that race. It makes for a great day of competitive racing.

Speed Skating Camps We hold a winter long track camp and also a summer short track camp. Our club coaches put on these camps for our club skaters as well as any U.S. speedskating member that would like to attend. These camps focus on technique skills and strategy to improve the skating ability of the participants. These are extended weekend camps that provide ice time dryland training time and video analysis of skaters. We have a lot of local skaters plus skaters in our region and in the Midwest that attend.
