The northeast georgia history center is dedicated to preserving and sharing our regional history and being our community's pathway to history education.
Programs

Educational programming and outreach: the ada mae ivester education center and the cottrell digital studio provide the core of our educational programming. In the last twelve months the history center: - welcomed 6,000 children in school groups (a 50% increase in two years) - welcomed 2,000 other visitors from as near as down the street and as far away as china (a 31% increase over two years) -provided live and prefilmed curriculum-based digital content to over 25,000 students -hosted eight family days with nearly 1,500 attendees -presented three chautauqua programs with 400 attendees
Reading program: gainesville reads using a similar, proven program in connecticut, the history center now offers an after-school tutoring program to provide extra help in literacy to elementary-age students who need it. Using one-on-one volunteers with the students and the lexia reading application, participants meet once a week to practice and improve their reading and comprehension skills.
