Nmic's weatherization department collaborates with property owners to provide long-term, energy-efficient improvements such as upgrading or replacement of heating systems, repair and replacement of windows, roof and pipe insulation, etc. Building performance institute certified staff use state of the art equipment and perform energy audits to determine the most cost-effective conservation measures. No rent increases are passed along to tenants as a result of the improvements.

Nmic education & career services programs assist low-income, unemployed and underemployed residents prepare for, secure, and retain sustainable employment. Job seekers receive case management, job readiness training, vocational skills training, job replacement, and postplacement retention and advancement services. Programs are tailored to the specific needs of young adults and adults with limited english proficiency and low literacy skills and are complemented by strong educational offerings such as esol, abe, and hse preparation programs.
