To collect and preserve printed records, books, genealogies, newspapers, maps, portraits, engravings, and in particular the documentary heritage, including manuscripts, letters, journals, church and cemetery records and other materials relating to history. To prepare and read before the society papers on the history, biography, genealogy and customs of the people of ths county. To publish papers and documents from time to time and to make them permanent records.
