Mission

The purpose and function of nocac is to plan, develop, and coordinate programs and services to combat poverty for the residents of defiance, fulton, henry, paulding, van wert and williams counties. Nocac works on behalf of low-income people to attain skills necessary to become self-sufficient.

Programs

Housing and energy services served three humdred and thirty seven households. One hundred forty-five homes received weatherization services including attic/sidewall/floor insulation and air duct sealing. One hundred and thirty two homes received furnace or a/c replacements or a clean and tune up. Seventy two received hot water heaters. We had seventeen roof replacements/repairs. Seventy-six refrigerators/freezers were replaced. Five hundred and seventy-eight energy-efficient bulbs were installed. Ten homes received handicap modifications. Pest control measures were provided to one home. Fifty eight exhaust fans were installed and thirteen homes received electrical repairs. Consumer education was given to 484 households.

Community services made 12,652 payments for utilities, rent, food, gasoline, prescriptions, or employment-related needs on behalf of low-income households. The soup kitchen served 7,127 meals to low-income individuals. It also provided 224 units of transportation to consumers and for food donation pickup. Usda food commodities were distributed to 363 unduplicated low-income households. Emergency shelter rooms housed 149 homeless individuals for 5,567 nights. Thirty-three households who were homeless had payments made toward rent, rent arrearages, deposits and/or utility bills. Seventeen individuals participated in "getting ahead in a just getting by world" classes. Financial coaching classes were given to 92 clients and 78 people attended financial literacy classes. Digitial navigation support was provided to 151 individuals. Payments for car repair were provided for 34 individuals. Applications for 3,467 low-income customers were processed resulting in an affordable income-based utility payment plan. Three hundred and thirteen air conditioners and 304 fans were distributed to eligible households.
