The Nurses Pub whose mission is primarily targeted for providing resources for nursing students with creative in person seminars, workshops and mentor to mentor matching is also a community based organization that supports underserved community populations and provided education for disease prevention during the COVID pandemic. The Nurses Pub operated The Nurses Pub COVID testing site which served more than 1,500 residents, primarily individuals experiencing homelessness in the city of San Bernardino. With the support of the funding from the state of California, residents received hygiene products, gift bags with food, water and first aid materials. Gift certificates were provided, socks and free COVID testing with follow up medical resources and education. The Nurses Pub employed student nurses, professional nurses and ancillary staff at top pay due to the challenging outdoor working conditions. Marketing strategies were implemented through radio advertising, social media and community outreach. The Nurses Pub received high ratings for excellent site operations from the California Department of Public Health, California.
