Mission
The ocean agency creates demand and support for ocean science and conservation - identifying the most urgent issues and then developing the creative ideas, communications, and collaborations needed to help solve them.
Programs
2 programs
General program: various programs that support the ocean agency's mission to accelerate ocean science and conservation, including the creation and support of freely available ocean education tools, resources, and curriculum-based programs, as well as public initiatives to raise awareness of the importance of the ocean and to inspire support for ocean science and conservation.
Un ocean decade: support the un ocean decade 2021-2030 in collaboration with unesco, by addressing the long-term challenge undermining support for ocean science and its potential to benefit humanity: the widespread belief that the ocean (and ocean science) is far less important than it actually is. Supporting the un ocean decade through the ocean decade exhibition, ocean image bank, and creative communication toolkits, which provide the ocean science and conservation community with free resources to enhance the effectiveness of their communications.
