Ommep was founded to provide public instructions and education on topics related to mining and the mineral aggregate industry. Also to provide educators with accurate information regarding mining and minerals, to provide education scholarships for students interested in the fields relating to mining and the industrial minerals industry in ohio and to provide safety and related training to groups and individuals engaged in mining and related operations in ohio.
