Mission

The vision for the oklahoma beef council is to be a positve difference for oklahoma's farming and ranching families and the greater beef community. The mission of the oklahoma beef council is to strengthen beef demand in the domestic and global marketplace.

Obc invests in the united states meat export federation, a contractor to the beef checkoff. The beef export market adds more than $400 per head to the price of fed cattle. In 2024, obc invested in retail/foodservice promotions and education programs in japan, south korea, mexico and africa. As an example of these efforts in japan, the us meat export federation, a contractor to the beef checkoff, conducted a roadshow campaign in all 33 costco outlets showcasing u.s. Beef to consumers via tasting demonstrations and promotions highlighting a wide range of u.s. Beef cuts. The roadshow which was made possible with oklahoma beef council funds, achieved remarkable success, with u.s. Beef sales exceeding 707,000 lbs., a substantial 91% increase during the promotion period.

Oklahoma programs are designed to strengthen beef demand in oklahoma. As an example, the obc funded two e-commerce promotions driving beef sales with major retailers leading to more than $5 million dollars in incremental beef sales. In advertising, obc promotional efforts included an 11 month digital marketing campaign with a goal of inspiring and educating consumers in oklahoma about the value of beef. With a strong emphasis on connected tv, the oklahoma beef council showed ads on live sports including oklahoma bowl games and the 2024 summer games in paris. Overall, the campaign reached oklahoma consumers 20 million times. In addition, obc launched advertising for the beef checkoff-funded sports nutrition game plan, a comprehensive nutrition program that highlights beef as the premier protein source for athletes. With just one ad in an email newsletter, the obc signed-up 90 new coaches, interested in integrating the sports nutrition game plan into their programs.

As a qualified state beef council, the obc collects assessments of which funds are passed through to the state of origin and fifty cents is remitted to the cattlemens beef board for conducting national and international checkoff programs. In 2024, a new cattle sales company begin remitting to the oklahoma beef council with its move to oklahoma, which signficiantly increased revenue and remittances.
