The olathe public schools foundation, founded in 1997, is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization providing grants, scholarships and recognitions for the teachers and students of the olathe school district. The foundation brings students, parents, alumni, small businesses and corporations together to create opportunities to support continued excellence in olathe schools. The foundation works to build supportive relationships between our schools and the business community through many cooperative events and programs.

Student need: with 29% of students in olathe living at or below the poverty line, the olathe public schools foundation focuses significant efforts on supporting their unique needs. Through the following funds, the opsf ensures olathe every student has what they need to be in class ready to learn: student health emergency fund, wimmer student care fund, school supply program, homeless outreach fund, families in need (meals) fund, braden robertson student mental health fund, backsnack food program (weekend meals), muffin fund (school break meals); and college now (credit earned while still in high school) scholarships through the a.l.l. Fund.

College scholarships: the opsf facilitates the awarding of 114 named scholarships to graduating olathe senior students. The sources of funds for these scholarships run the gamut from endowed funds from estate gifts to annual support donations from alumni groups and grateful families.
