Special event promotions - omba sponsors and/or facilitates festivals and other events which attracts visitors and brings residents downtown. These include a fourth of july parade, main street car shows, 50 farmers' markets each year, open air art shows, music festivals and other events which are designed to attract visitors and residents.

Media advertising - old monterey business association omba promotes the downtown area of monterey through radio, television and print media. Omba also supports the visitor's bureau and local chamber of commerce. A promotion committee directs these advertising and promotion campaigns.

Historic preservation - omba coordinates the dissemination of historical information about monterey among california state parks, the national trust of historical preservation and the path of history publication in an effort to attract visitors and residents downtown. Omba establishes various events such as art in the adobes, which focuses on the historical buildings in the city. Omba is an accredited nation main street program through the national trust for historic preservation and the california main street alliance.
