Old Skool Cafe is a youth-run supper club that serves 120+ youth aged 16-22 in San Francisco's Bayview-Hunters Point neighborhood annually. Of that total, 30 high-risk youth are selected to receive in-depth vocational restaurant training, job opportunities, mentoring, and wrap-around services, 60 additional youth participate in quarterly workshops and 20-80 youth are paid as in-house musicians and performers. They participate in workforce development training, develop life skills, and receive comprehensive wrap-around support services. They also benefit from ongoing mentoring and coaching while participating in all phases of business operations, from cooking to customer service. Old Skool's training program is designed to be flexible, scaffolded, and meet the needs of our youth. The heart of the program is the mentorship the youth receive from success coaches.

Old Skool Cafe is a violence prevention program with the mission to provide job training, employment, and a second chance at life by way of a jazz restaurant run by at-risk, formerly incarcerated, and foster care youth ages 16-22. Over the course of seventeen years, Old Skool Cafe has become an on-ramp to life success for the significantly disadvantaged youth of San Francisco's Bayview-Hunter's Point community. It does this via hands-on mentorship and life skill training in the context of the Old Skool Cafe. Graduates of this program are being integrated into the wider hospitality and food service industry of San Francisco. The focus of the program is educational completion, life skill development in the context of accountability and structure, and equipping youth to connect to career opportunities.
