Content Creation Content creation was central to OTLs mission. The Organization focused on debunking rumors, particularly those fostering hate speech and discrimination against vulnerable groups in Egypt and the broader Arab societies. OTLs fact-checking initiatives spanned a broad spectrum, from scientific misinformation, religious and folk superstitions, to government remarks, and news propagated by text and audiovisual media outlets. The team undertook a unique initiative of fact-checking news related to soccer, acknowledging its influential role in Egyptian society and its potential to fuel rumors and social tensions.
Fellowships In OTLs endeavor to create a comprehensive understanding of the misinformation landscape, the Organization collaborated with researchers for content analysis of rumors and false news in the region. This fellowship model offered us the opportunity to access a wider pool of knowledge and expertise. In addition, OTL publishes extended news features on a regular basis, unrelated to its daily work. These pieces were prepared in advance and tackled societal issues such as hate speech, natural disasters, diseases, and elections, providing an in-depth and non-time-sensitive journalistic perspective.
TrainingThroughout the project, OTLs team demonstrated a steadfast commitment to content creation and editorial standards. OTL produces and publishes text content daily, while simultaneously enhancing its visual content. Imagery and graphs were integrated into OTLs work to augment the narrative and engage readers more effectively. The Organization ventures into multimedia, producing video content on a weekly or monthly basis, enriches with voice-overs, footage, and thematic music, thus adding a new dimension to its content creation approach.
