Mission

OGTF operates for charitable and educational purposes supporting the City of Huntsville AL and keeping our city green and clean. Our mission promotes beautification litter prevention environmental consciousness greening clean-ups energy efficiency recycling alternative fuels transportation resiliency environmental land stewardship water conservation gardening nature engagement and education. OGTF also provides environmental education programs and promotes interest in environmental stewardship.

GOLDSMITH-SCHIFFMAN WILDLIFE SANCTUARY GSWS- OGTF incurred various expenses for: trees as approved by the US Corp of Engineers and authorized through the Wetland Mitigation Bank Instrument MBI construction management and oversight and inspections as required per the MBI. GSWS is a protected property through a conservation easement that ensures the property will forever remain in its natural restored or enhanced condition per the mitigation

GREEN AMBASSADOR PROGRAM - coordinated by the City of Huntsvilles Green Team in partnership with corporate sponsors whose mission is to educate and incentivize local youth to adopt sustainable environmental practices. The program is open to K-12th grade students teachers and administrators in the Huntsville community who are interested in supporting environmental education and practices through experiential education. Approved Green Ambassador teams compete and earn points in the program for year end awards. Expenses for the program include materials supplies and awards. $9700 was spent for awards and $10,000 was paid to schools for materials & supplies and fieldtrips. Corporate sponsorships totaled $61,000 and included Mazda Toyota Manufacturing Reworld Waste LLC Solid Waste Disposal Authority Lockheed Martin Redstone Federal Credit Union and Wal-Mart.

Other program expenses include: Cleanups $10,000 Litter Prevention $3,250 Arboretum Rendering $2,784.00. The Solid Waste Disposal Authority made a $5,000 for earth day that will be spent for Earth Day 2025.
