Mission
To advance the profession to improve health outcomes for our community. Our activities aim to have a highly skilled interpreters community that is economically successful and valued as an integral member of the health care team. In collaboration with hospitals, ccos, agencies, community organizations and the state, it has improved language access through on line low-cost training, scholarships, job fairs, conferences, advocacy, and workforce development strategies.

Offer a low cost ohcia's 60-hour health care interpreter training course that has been approved by the oregon health authority, continuing education classes (ceus) for interpreters looking to fulfill their requirements to maintain certification/qualification with the state, and customized training for health care providers on best practices in working with interpreters. Provide referrals for hcis looking for work opportunities through job fairs, conferences and interpreter directory.
Created the interpreter directory (id), a searchable directory of interpreters to help healthcare interpreters find job opportunities in the pacific northwest.
