Orpa educational programing: as a trade association focused on the development of park and recreation professionals, educational programming is at the heart of our services. We offer multiple 1-day workshops which are often in-person and hands-on. We also host webinars and certification courses.

Orpa legislative activities: orpa monitored state legislation related to park and recreation policy, funding, and regulations. The organization conducted limited grassroots advocacy activities.

Orpa leadership academy: in it's third year, this program is supported through a contract with portland state university. This is an 8-month long program running from september to april each year. The cohort of students is intestinally small, with 15 in the 2023-24 cohort, and 16 in the 2024-25 cohort. The cohorts are designed to create points of connection, build a student's leadership skills, and develop a network beyond their own agency. Students are tasked with attending educational courses (provided by portland state university) engage with their mentor each month, and develop, complete, and present a capstone project considered a significant contribution to their agency.
