Education and workface developmentto strengthen the future o&p workforce, the o&p foundation provides direct financial support to students pursuing careers in orthotics and prosthetics. This year, 36 students received competitive scholarships to offset the financial burden of their professional education. In addition, the o&p foundation awarded 10 doctoral training grants to phd students conducting research relevant to the field, 3 research poster awards to o&p students presenting at national conferences, and 1 resident travel award to support participation in professional development activities. These initiatives reduce barriers to entry, foster early-career engagement in research and professional service, and build a pipeline of qualified clinicians, educators, and scholars.
Professional recognition and advancementthe foundation recognizes and supports orthotic and prosthetic (o&p) professionalsincluding clinicians, educators, and researcherswho demonstrate leadership, excellence, and commitment to advancing the field. In the past year, five professional recognition awards were granted to outstanding clinicians for their contributions to patient care, mentorship, and innovation. In addition, the o&p foundation supported ten clinician phd students through its initiatives, providing funding to help advance o&p-relevant research, promote academic career development, and cultivate future leaders in the profession. These efforts help elevate professional standards, drive innovation, and ensure that the o&p workforce continues to grow in knowledge, impact, and diversity of thought.
