Our Hbcus Matter Foundation

2024 Day on Capitol Hill: Designed as a strategic advocacy initiative, this event empowered HBCU scholars and alumni to directly engage with members of Congress and education policy stakeholders to advocate for equitable funding and student-centered reforms. Outcome: Over 25 participants attended; created opportunities for policy internships and catalyzed legislative interest in HBCU student success models.

2024 Whitehouse HBCU Week: As part of National HBCU Week, this event connected scholars with federal agencies, policymakers, and national advocates to explore career pathways in government and discuss HBCU-specific educational equity issues. Outcome: Student representatives from 15 HBCUs participated; relationships were formed with multiple federal agencies leading to new partnership discussions and scholar programming.
