Outboard Boating Club Of San Diego Inc

Our volunteer organization's purpose is to promote recreational boating safety and education in the operation of jet skis, and small boats at the public launch ramp at Shelter Island, in San Diego Bay. We monitor the ramp for persons needing assistance in launching/recovering their vessel, and observe the ramp to alert the San Diego Harbor Police in case of emergencies. In Addition, we assist the Harbor Police in watching for suspicious activity related to the smuggling of people or illegal cargo (primarily from Mexico) in small boats that come to the launch ramp to dock and unload. Such vessels are usually reported as stolen. The Harbor Police does not have a permanent presence at the launch ramp, so we assist them in monitoring the ramp at the times of greatest use.
