Mission

To positively impact everyone who is blind or visually impaired. We achieve this through enrichment programs geared toward helping those we serve achieve increased personal independence and employability.

Programs

3 programs

Recreation programs-recreation opportunities for individuals of all ages who are blind or visually impaired. Participants engage in programing to improve healthy styles, build confidence, and build relationships. Program activities include monthly activities, likedownhill skiing, golfing, rock wall climbing. Additionally, weekly recurring fitness activities, and social/culture outings are also provided to eliminate barriers that otherwise may present an access barrier to activities in the community. 1,838 total hours of service were provided through our recreation programs services were provided to 200 visually impaired individuals.

Community education 3,381 hours of community education were provided throughout the year these included both internal and external educational sessions, blindness immersion activities and team building, tours, media, and publicity.

ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS ASSIST MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY WHO ARE DEALING WITH VISION LOSS TO LEARN NEW WAYS TO OVERCOME THEIR CHALLENGES, ACQUIRE NEW SKILLS, GAIN ADDITIONAL CONFIDENCE IN THEIR CAPABILITIES, AND EXPERIENCE GREATER PERSONAL INDEPENDENCE. THE PROGRAMS ALSO HELP THE PUBLIC TO BETTER UNDERSTAND THE NEEDS OF THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED CREATING A MORE INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY. OUTLOOK OFFERS A CONTINUUM OF DONOR-FUNDED PROGRAMS WITHIN THESE CORE FUNCTIONAL THEMES: INDIVIDUAL TRAINING ON ADAPTIVE TECHNOLOGY TO HELP THE BLIND USE COMPUTERS, SMARTPHONES AND TABLETS, MAGNIFICATION AND BRAILLE DEVICES; RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES SUPPORTED BY ADAPTIVE SPORTS SPECIALISTS; CULTURAL ACTIVITIES PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES TO EXPERIENCE LIVE THEATRICAL PERFORMANCES AND CREATE ART; AND EDUCATIONAL EVENTS TO HELP OUR COMMUNITY MEMBERS BETTER UNDERSTAND THE CAPABILITIES OF OUR BLIND NEIGHBORS.
