Mission

Get outdoors nevada is dedicated to connecting people of all backgrounds and ages to nevada's diverse outdoor places through education, service, community engagement, and collaboration.

Programs

2 programs

Outreach programs: get outdoors nevada serves as an important community connector, bridging our local community of residents with the various municipalities and land agencies that manage public lands and outdoor recreation spaces across southern nevada. In particular, our organization serves as both the contracted facilitator for the regional open space and trails collaborative and as the official philanthropic partner, or "friends group" for lake mead national recreation area. In these capacities, we invest time and resources into developing, supporting and building community awareness around major outdoor-focused projects and initiatives such as the vegas valley rim trail or restoration of historic railroad tunnel trail. We also provide educational outreach programming across a wide variety of community-based events, all focused on building increased awareness and connection with the outdoors through initiatives that include "leave no trace- and "meet your mojave."

Expenses: $153K

Environmental education programs: get outdoors nevada provides a range of environmental education programs designed to foster lifelong connections between k-12 youth and southern nevada's outdoor environments. A core focus of our programs is increasing the accessibility of hands-on, place-based learning experiences in the outdoors for all students. This goal is achieved through delivering experiential learning opportunities such as guided field trips, native habitat educational gardens and our next generation science standards (ngss) program. We also partner with clark county to deliver the mojave max program, currently celebrating its 25th season, to elementary schools across clark county. In the 2024-2025 school year we delivered 255 hours of classroom programming that impacted over 6,725 students - including 780 students who were taken on guided field trips in nevada's public lands.
