Geo-literacy education in micronesia (gem) is funded by the national science foundation to demonstrate the potential for effective intergenerational, informal learning and development of geo-literacy through an informal stem learning team (islt) model for pacific island communities.

Transformative advocates for steam innovation & knowledge (tasik) is funded by the national science foundation to investigate the impact of youth's inductive exploration of local technologies featured in indigenous stories on their engagement, self-efficacy, and persistence in stem.

(a) developing and disseminating effective educational products and procedures; (b) conducting research on educational needs and issues; (c) providing technical assistance in effective education; (d) evaluating effeciveness of educational programs and projects; (e) providing training in educational planning, management, evaluation, and instruction; (f) serving as an information resource on effective educational programs and processes; (g) providing a forum for discussing and resolving educational issues.
