Most recently, holmes/poirot was celebrated by the star tribune as one of the top plays to see for the fall of 2024.2024-25 season: celebrating new beginningspark square's current season explores themes of redemption, renewal, and rebirth through the following productions:- holmes/poirot (oct. 2024) by jeffrey hatcher and steve hendrickson, directed by david ira goldstein: a suspenseful world premiere featuring sherlock holmes and hercule poirot. Themes: truth and justice, legacy, rivalry, global intrigue. 4,773 tickets sold- the best christmas pageant ever (dec. 2024) by barbara robinson, directed by ellen fenster-gharib: a multicultural holiday favorite with youth and adult performers. Themes: family, holiday, comedy, lgbtq+. 3,099 tickets sold- the gin game (feb. 2025) by d.l. Coburn, directed by faye m. Price: a pulitzer-winning drama exploring aging and human connection. Themes: loneliness, society's treatment of the aged, life's unpredictability. 1,617 tickets sold- between riverside and crazy (may 2025) by stephen adly guirgis, directed by stephen dimenna: a tale of resilience in a black & latino family, looking for justice in an unjust world. Themes: racism, class struggles, chosen family.in 2023, park square launched live @ the square, a concert and literary series that has attracted over 2,000 first-time ticket buyers. Designed to bring music and storytelling to new audiences, this series is a growing community favorite. The 2024-25 lineup includes:- holiday hot chocolate (dec. 2024): seasonal favorites with thomasina petrus and dan chouinard.- broadway in love: 2025 edition (feb. 2025): broadway's greatest love songs, featuring james a. Rocco, caroline innerbichler, and erin schwab.- the new standards (mar. 2025): a minneapolis-based trio featuring chan poling, john munson, & steve roehm.- kevin kling and victor zupanc (mar. 2025)in addition to its own programming, park square serves as a rental space for numerous theater companies. Not only is this a revenue stream for park square, but it also provides the space for mid-sized / small theaters to present their distinctive works and stories, thereby expanding our reach and influence within the community. Theater mu, full circle, unlabeled, prime productions, teatro del pueblo, trademark, and spcpa are among the companies that actively rent our facilities. Yellow tree is exploring a residency for 2026. Park square is also the new home for the umn bfa acting senior showcase.
