Child hunger prevention: in the year ending june 30, 2024, we advocated for and provided information, education, and resources to ensure access for over 294,000 oregon kids who are eligible for free and reduced-price school meals. More than 114,000 children in oregon live in households that struggle to afford enough food. Our work to ensure universal access to meals in schools will ultimately benefit over 540,000 oregon children.
Snap outreach: in the year ending june 30, 2024, phfo either directly or indirectly served approximately 191,421 persons with information about the snap program, through our website or through training and outreach materials & programs. We advocated for waivers and changes to increase benefits and to make snap benefits as widely available as possible during the pandemic.
Lobbying: under this program, phfo supports and advocates for legislation that addresses hunger and proverty. Phfo publishes a policy agenda each year. During state legislative sessions, staff may testify at hearings, make legislative visits and assist policy makers in developing and promoting policy-based solutions to hunger and proverty in oregon.
