Peas provided edible education programs through which more than 533 students learned the full soil-to-table cycle and gained an understanding of ecological interconnection and interdependence. Students engaged in sensory delight of preparing and tasting fresh food in lessons that reinforce core academic concepts.
Peas continued to plant and maintain the community farm and urban orchard in south austin that is designed to foster relationships and promote sustainability and stewardship through experiential education.
Peas provided three fun filled weeks of summer camp in two locations. Camps engaged kids through an array of nature-based games and activities including tending gardens, outdoor adventure explorations, nature art, planting, growing, harvesting, preparing, eating and more!
Peas continued to craft a professional development curriculum and pilot workshops for educators. Peas helped to support and expand outdoor learning opportunities at area schools by providing 855 hours of maintenance at school gardens and outdoor learning areas of local schools.
