Programs
9 programs
Holiday Celebrations: We conduct annual High Holy Day experiences that are an alternative to traditional synagogue settings. The Path With Heart clergy team consists of Rabbi Jill, along with cantors, guest rabbis, & musicians. We create a beautiful, art & poetry-filled High Holiday Prayerbook each year, packed with non-traditional mindful readings, & prayers. These gatherings are funded by donations & event fees. For other holidays, we post reflections & suggested Jewish mindfulness practices. We engage the larger community by encouraging participation on our social media pages & blog. Rabbi Jill writes these. This online activity expands our reach to people who may not have engaged with this holiday in such a meaningful way.
Shabbat Meditations: The Hineni community meets every Friday night online for an hour of teaching, meditation, music, and prayer. This weekly experience includes Kaddish (Jewish mourning prayer) and healing prayers. Our gatherings provide spiritual solace, and community, as we celebrate Shabbat together. Our funding comes from Hineni members dues and donations. These sessions are led by Rabbi Jill Zimmerman, supported by our rabbinic intern, & with occasional guest rabbis.
Courses: Several times a year, Rabbi Jill teaches 4-session courses on the spiritual aspects of major Jewish Holidays such as Passover & High Holy Days. These classes are open to all. They are funded by class fees, with some people making an extra donation so others who cannot afford the class fee may participate.
Contemporary Jewish Spiritual Practices: Ebooks & Workbooks: These colorful downloadable resources provide Jewish spiritual education as well as practical ideas to improve peoples daily lives. Most are available free of charge or for donation. Sometimes these donations go to help a needy cause, & some of the donations help support our organizations functioning. Rabbi Jill & our graphic artist create these books.
Introduction to Judaism: Based on popular request, we teach an 8-session virtual Introduction to Judaism course, which is the first step to conversion to Judaism. People who are interested in learning more about Judaism are welcome. An experienced guest rabbi teaches. The class is funded by class fees, & donations are welcome.
Conversion to Judaism: Some people within our community desire to convert to Judaism. To this end, we have created a new Conversion Program. Rabbi Jill & guest rabbis meet with each participant multiple times & provide a map toward conversion. We ask for donations to our community as part of this process. 5 percent of our time is allocated to this.
Path With Heart newsletter & Blog: We regularly send out emails with Jewish spiritual teachings to our entire mailing list of 7500. Rabbi Jill writes an occasional blog on our website on many topics relevant to Jewish mindfulness & spiritual practice.
Jewish Mindfulness Month: The general public is invited to sign up for a free month of Jewish mindfulness teachings. People receive an email every day with suggestions for meditation practice, as well as Jewish teachings. We also have several online gatherings during this month focused on Jewish mindfulness techniques. Everyone is welcome. We ask for donations at the end of the month to support our work.
Weekly Torah Study: Our weekly Torah study group is led by volunteer members of the Hineni community, some of whom have been meeting together for three years. Rabbi Jill Zimmerman teaches 5 times a year in this group & assists when needed. This group is offered free of charge to members of the Hineni community.
