Mission

Services for Seniors-The Mission of the Peninsula Shepherd Center is to provide a support system which helps allow for older adults to live independently and self-sufficiently in their homes for as long as possible, while providing opportunities to learn, to grow and serve. Our Tag Line is "Empowering Senior Independence". Our Vision is a community that honors, respects and cares for older adults. We operate in a defined geographical area and do not duplicate existing local services.The Peninsula Shepherd Center is a 501(c)(3) organization that serves seniors, 60 and older, in the Point Loma (92106), Ocean Beach (92107) and Midway/Sports Arena (92110) areas of the City of San Diego.

Programs

2 programs

PSC's Out and About Senior Transportation program is the central part of PSC services. It allows seniors in the Peninsula communities to live independently even though they are not able or do not wish to drive themselves. Rides are often needed for seniors to attend the PSC life enrichment programs and technology training classes we provide. During 2024 PSC provided 4,500 shuttle van rides,wheelchair accessible shuttle rides and volunteer rides.

Expenses: $63K

Grants and Loans Received The Hervey Family Foundation awarded PSC $10,000 for Operating Income and $43,000 for the purchase of a van. PSC also received a grant for $7,750 from the Point Loma Community Presbyterian Church, $77,000 from All Souls Episcopal Church and $20,000 in a grant from the Aging Forward Alliance.
