Mission
The Pennsylvania Anthracite Council (PAC) is a trade organization representing surface mine operators, prep plant operators and suppliers that produce Anthracite mined in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Councils mission is to advance the mining and use of the states most abundant and economical carbon resource in an environmentally responsible manner through sound legislative and regulatory policies and judicial decisions. While recognizing the need to balance an increasing demand for carbon with assuring a safe and clean environment, the PAC believes that prudent national and state mining policies can neither neglect nor penalize the use of anthracite but must promote it. Towards this goal PAC strives to: Encourage the use of Anthracite as an affordable, reliable and increasingly clean source of carbon and as an essential component of the Commonwealths mineral resources. Support wise mining policies that recognize coals importance in decreasing the nations dependence o
