Mission
People's community clinic's (people's) most significant activity in 2024 was updating and transitioning its electronic medical record system. This included the electronic record system for the medical, dental, and behavioral health service lines.
Programs
3 programs
People's center for women's health offers a robust menu of services ranging from providing prenatal care, supporting new mothers through the post-partum period to annual well-woman exams, preventing unintended pregnancies, , and, diagnosis of and treatment for various medical conditions, and multiple preventative screenings. People's prioritizes providing patient-centered care and fosters a team-based approach to how it delivers services. Clinic staff across departments work in close collaboration to ensure all aspects of a patient's health are considered and they are connected to all available resources to meet their needs. The effectiveness of the clinic's programs and care is evident in the positive health outcomes seen among patients compared to state-wide measures and evaluative feedback. In 2024, 7.89% of babies born to clinic patients had a low birth weight compared to 8.72% state-wide and 8.85% among other federally-funded health centers of similar size to people's.
People's launched its dental program in 2016, initially rendering services in a dental van with only two dental chairs. The program expanded in 2022 and moved into a dedicated pod within the main clinic building. Today, the fully-staffed dental team serves patients through seven operatories and is currently at full operating capacity. In 2024, people's dental program served 3,752 patients through more than 9,200 visits (compared to 1,972 patients and 6,152 dental visits in 2023). The program offers both basic dentistry and expanded services such as endodontic, prosthodontic, and restorative dental care to help address issues compromising patients' quality of life. Expanding access to preventative dental care is a critical need among the clinic's patient population as most patients experience significant barriers accessing dental care. . Importantly, people's offers restorative procedures that other local federally qualified health centers do not. Without people's, these patients would likely forego addressing their dental needs as their options are limited locally through other community health centers and cannot afford private sector out-of-pocket prices. Delaying dental care could lead to worsened overall health outcomes and have life-threatening consequences for some.
People's community clinic continues to provide integrated behavioral health services both in person and via telehealth. Pcc distinguishes itself for its commitment to identifying and addressing patients' social determinants of health, including providing legal services via its medical legal partnership. Pcc services focus on enhancing early brain development and bonding between young children and their caregivers.
