Mission
The Perry Outreach Center strengthens households and fosters community well-being in Southwest Detroit through programs that meet basic needs and create pathways toward stability. We operate a neighborhood food pantry providing nutritious groceries to families facing food insecurity in a FDA-recognized "food desert", along with nutrition and cooking education to promote healthy eating. We partner with local universities to offer free health screenings and information on chronic disease prevention. To build long-term opportunity, we provide adult computer literacy classes, youth music education, and employment assistance in both English and Spanish. These services address the interconnected challenges of poverty, health disparities, and limited access to resources in Michigans most underserved and highest polluted zip code. Our goal is to empower residents to live healthier, more secure, and more hopeful lives through consistent community support and engagement.
