Philadelphia Ship Preservation Guild

Education: In 2024 PSPG was awarded a grant that funded a training program for paid intern/apprentices to learn about and gain hands on experience working in the marine trades industry. Throughout the year several training sails introduced novice sailors to the operation and life aboard a traditional wooden sailing tall ship. The education department continued planning and developing a curriculum for after school programs, STEM training and field trips.

Events: Events hosted on the Tall Ship Gazela serve to both generate income for PSPG and to introduce people in the region to our presence and mission. Many of our volunteers first learn about PSPG during a public event. In 2024 we hosted eleven private or ticketed events and were open to the general public for tours four times during the summer. We estimate we had 1,000 visitors to the ship during these events.
