Chinese new year: every year our temple holds chinese new year lamp lighting for 10 days, starting from chinese new year eve to the 9th day of chinese new year for the good of many visitors.Light is a symbol of knowledge and dispelling of darkness. Darkness represents ignorance, and light is a metaphor for knowledge.Lamp lighting is especially more significant when done in new year as it is symbolized dispelling the year aheadof darkness and bringing a fresh start of the year.Devotees pray and ask for buddha's blessings for their loved ones and families. Our temple's expenses including promotion of the event, preparation of temple facilities, floral arrangements for the altar and refreshments for visitors.
