Public Policy and Community Support Over the past year, our physician-advocates and staff served as trusted authorities and impacted a range of reproductive health discussions and dialogues in the public arena. We continue to be in close relationships with federal and state coalition partners, working to effectively advocate for expanded access to reproductive health care and speaking out against harmful restrictions. Specific highlights include: . PRH staff and members of the PRH network met regularly with policymakers lending expertise on a variety of reproductive health issues. o Our 2025 Leadership Training Academy class met with offices on Capitol Hill to discuss immigrant access to health care and the harmful practice of shackling pregnant prisoners. o PRH staff and network members briefed policymakers and their staffs on reproductive health topics. . PRH continued our blog series about public policy issues and reproductive health focusing. . PRH published resources for physician advocates on a variety of issues related to access to reproductive health care. . PRH authored an amicus brief to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals about access to abortion care in emergency situations under EMTALA in US v. Idaho. . PRH Fellow Dr. Nisha Verma testified at a Senate Subcommittee on Human Rights and the Law field hearing.

Communications As dedicated advocates for the communities in which they live and work, our physicians continue to provide an expert perspective on reproductive health care and explain clearly how restrictions on any aspect of reproductive health care impact their ability to provide evidence-based care to patients. They offered front line and expert perspectives on the ripple effect of abortion bans and how they've impacted provider training inequities, the intersection of criminalization and abortion bans, and devastating implications on maternal and infant health. Through testimony, reporter education, media appearances in print and online, on the radio, and on television, and speaking out on their personal social media platforms, there were many opportunities to demonstrate the harm caused by health care restrictions on state and national levels and center the compassion, research, and evidence at the core of the work we do. In the 2024 fiscal year from July 2023 to June 2024, the PRH social media accounts lifted up the expertise of our physician advocates to our over 30,000 followers. PRH.org had over 50,000 unique users with over 70,000 sessions. . Our doctors spoke out on reproductive health access in The Associated Press, UPI, Huffington Post, Politico, The Nation, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, and more. . Our physician advocates regularly engaged reporters on the safety of medication abortion, the variety of reasons people need access to abortion care including in emergency situations, the real threat of criminalization on pregnant people across the country, the safety of self-managed abortion, and the long-lasting impact of abortion restrictions on provider education and community safety.
