Nuclear Weapons Abolition SF Bay PSR works toward a world where everyone is free of the existential threats of nuclear weapons and proliferation. We work locally to influence public awareness, civic engagement, and national policy toward a nuclear-weapons-free world. We support the following 1. Legislation that would divert wasteful military spending to address graver threats to our country such as health crises 2. Legislation advocating for limits on sole Presidential authority to launch a nuclear attack, and for our government to declare a policy of no-first-use of nuclear weapons 3. More support for diplomacy and movement toward nuclear disarmament, including signing on to the United Nations International Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons 4. Assistance and protection for communities who are harmed by nuclear industry radioactve contamination from mining, bomb testing, etc.

Community Protection SF Bay PSR works toward a world where everyone can live free from unfair treatment and the health harms of pollution. We work in close collaboration with a wide network of allies in climate, toxics, nuclear weapons, racial and social justice, including medical associations.We combine the power of community activism with the knowledge and credibility of health professionals to serve our local community-based organizations and promote public policies that support environmental health and address the compounded health burdens of our vulnerable communities living in lower-income areas with high concentrations of toxic pollution and radioactive contamination. To achieve our goals we illuminate the unfair, systemic racial, economic, and social barriers that are key determinants of health and work in collaboration with allies to address the intersection of these barriers.
