Pictures on Silence was founded in 2012 to further the understanding and knowledge of contemporary musical arts through public performance the encouragement of composition of new music for chamber ensembles education of students and the public about new music and commissions and projects related to newly composed music Our bylaws include organizing sponsoring and presenting events combining different musicians and ensembles in conjunction with other persons and institutions that present new music This non-profit supports the World Music Collective a mixed instrumentation ensemble representing diverse musical heritages with improvisation as a common theme Each member is an internationally recognized performer improviser and composer based in the Washington DC metropolitan area Through music and heritage this ensemble brings together the diverse cultures of the world
