Mission
To empower our diverse local communities to find better health and overcome chronic disease through whole food, plant-based nutrition. We offer evidence-based education, resources, and support to create community and inspire change throughout the new york metropolitan area.
Programs

Nutrition and cooking education ppmny organizes year-round public educational programs online and in-person with community partners, as well as private programs delivered for partnering organizations and companies. Ppmny conducts outreach through health fairs and presents presentations, workshops, film screenings, cooking classes and demos, and market tours, with skill-building in food shopping, label-reading, and meal preparation. Accomplishments: organizing 200+ unique events and programs spanning many formats and audiences, some in collaboration with approx. 70 partner organizations. Participating in two dozen outreach events. Presenting more than 65 food for life nutrition and cooking classes for private audiences; cooking classes and demos were primarily taught in-person at older adult centers, healthcare organizations, and community-based organizations.
Dietary change and support programs ppmny presents engaging programs that deepen participants' knowledge and skills for meaningful dietary change, allowing them to achieve their health goals. These programs include seminars and intensives, multi-week nutrition and cooking classes, lifestyle skill-building workshops, peer mentorship and support groups, the plant powered jumpstart dietary change program in english and in spanish, and community building events. Accomplishments: presenting 5 jumpstart programs enrolling more than 600 people total. Providing peer mentorship to all jumpstart participants and additional one-on-one mentorship matches for another 25 people. Organizing quarterly mentor-led support circles as well as more than 25 community building events.
