Pollinator Partnership

Monarchs:Pollinator Partnership (P2) program called Monarch Wings Across America (MWAA) launched in response to the Presidential directive on supporting the monarch migration. As many people know, the monarch migration is in peril. The number of monarchs making the annual migration has plummeted in recent years, but P2 has stepped forward in to make a difference. MWAA is focused in states in the West and Midwest/ Great Lakes regions and has resulted in over 150,000 acres of enhanced habitat. P2 has created various planting guidelines for the public and trainings for land managers.

North American Pollinator Protection Campaign:The North American Pollinator Protection Campaign (NAPPC) is a growing, collaborative body of more than 170 diverse partners, including respected scientists, researchers, conservationists, government officials and dedicated volunteers. NAPPC is succeeding with major programs to protect pollinators, to raise pollinator-related issues, and to benefit the health of all species particularly those most threatened. NAPPC's mission is to encourage the health of resident and migratory pollinating animals in North America. NAPPC partners gather from throughout the North American continent and beyond to raise public awareness and education and promote constructive dialogue about pollinators importance to agriculture, ecosystem health, and food supplies.

Pollinator Education:Pollinator Partnerships Pollinator Stewardship Certification (PSC) programprovides home gardeners, land managers, farmers, government, andcommunity scientists with the scientific know-how to make a real differencefor pollinators, people, and the planet. The training features expert topicspeakers, the latest pollinator research, and provides participants with theinformation needed to become powerful pollinator protectors. The SchoolGarden Kit (SGKs) program aims to support teachers, administrators,guardians, youth groups, after school programs, amongst others, in guidingstudents through a discovery process that will increase studentsunderstanding in science, math, and language arts by connecting them toplants, pollinators, food, and gardens by (potentially) creating habitat forpollinators. We say potentially because building a school habitat gardenrequires a real commitment. Planting the garden habitat is relatively easy,but making it grow, thrive, and survive several seasons is a commitmentand a challenge. The School Garden Kit helps expose students to newideas about food, wildlife, and plants. It should also help students choosebehaviors that support their own health, the health of the planet, and all itsplants and animals.
