Powerful Voices

EMPLOYMENT: The Employment program offers both after school and summer programs for high school age girls and gender expansive youth of color. Our after-school programs are experiential learning internships where participants increase their knowledge of social justice issues that impact them while building transferable skills they can apply towards their career goals. Youth who accessed paid internship opportunities include 8 Youth Engagement Board fellows, 14 Activistas interns and 2 fellows, 8 PV Radio interns and 2 fellows, 13 ARTivism interns, and 5 interns who served as leads on hiring committees and the Healing Justice documentary production team.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: Powerful Voices works within the community on issues that impact girls and gender expansive of color to promote equity and make the world a more just place for everyone. Community Engagement efforts include hosting community care events where we provide self-care items and services to youth and their families, producing teach-ins led by youth and community partners, providing training on Powerful Voices curriculum and practices, and serving on coalitions. We had 20 attendees at our virtual Wellness Speaker Series, 45 attendees at the Activistas A Very Powerful Youth Teach-In, 29 attendees at our Healing Justice Summit, and 23 attendees at our ARTivism Showcase
