The two summer camps exceeded our anticipated attendance of 50 campers each. Evansville camp had 73 registered campers and Shreveport had 62 with consistent attendance for the whole duration of camp. Our first goal of sharing the good news of Jesus was met by campers attending a daily 20 minute chapel service as well as prayer and bible lessons in their age group. Many campers heard the story of Jesus for the first time and many were captivated by Bible stories. Campers were excited when they were presented with their own children's bible at the end of Camp. Our recreational goal was met by group leaders (many of whom are school teachers) providing safe and engaging games, crafts, sports and learning activities which the campers enthusiastically (and loudly) participated in. Friendships, our third goal was not only experienced among the children who related well with each other, but spread to their families, when a large number of parents and siblings attended a neighborhood BBQ event at the end of camp.
