Mission
The Lone Star Wind Orchestra (LSWO) is an ensemble of fifty-six professional musicians providing exceptional performances while creating meaningful community outreach opportunities for the most underserved citizens across North Texas. LSWO Founders envisioned creating a world-class organization committed to deep engagement in developing the next generation of artists and arts patrons. This Life Cycle mentoring model defines our organization-it is who we are, not part of what we do. LSWO is built on three central objectives: make the best possible music, give back to the community, and reach the underserved. LSWO's tagline, Music Changing Lives encompasses the vision that music inspires, creates impact, and drives change within communities. To achieve its three objectives, LSWO institutes a three-pronged approach to impact spanning performance, education, and scholarship.

Education Programs: LSWO offers development programs for young band members seeking additional challenges. The Lone Star Youth Winds, with 72 members, had two DFW performances after weeks of professionally condensed rehearsals and masterclasses. The program has reached over 900 students since its beginnings. The LSWO started a new partnership with Trinity Basin School in Dallas to establish a weekly after school percussion program; and started a new chamber music mentorship program which serves over 60 students in Richardson ISD. The LSWO awarded Three (3) exceptional high school band seniors a Music Changing Lives Scholarship ($1,000 each) through a competitive application process.
