Mission
The mission of the Preston Center of Compassion is to provide education, counseling, mentoring, and empowerment programs and services in response to the needs of women, children, and families in the Bronx.
Programs
5 programs
ESL Program:PCCs ESL program began in 2016 and serves 40 adults from 12 countries annually with an academic year-based program. We offer 3 levels of instruction taught by qualified educators. There is no cost to the participants.
Tutoring Program: After school instructional and tutoring programs serving students who come from low income families. Students receive instructional support and homework help from certified teachers and volunteers.
Other Program Services: Represents the expenses for the Senior Citizens Outreach (Senior Run):program servicing approximately 80 senior citizens in the Bronx NY neighborhood. Services include visits to homebound seniors, grocery shopping for seniors, gardening and raking yards, monthly outings, computer classes, concerts and theatre.
Big Sister Little Sister Programs: Pair students from Preston High School with children in need from local elementary schools.
Counseling Program:PCCs Counseling program began in 1991 and serves low- and middle-income children, adults, and families. It is staffed by licensed masters-level social workers and offers a sliding fee scale to those in need.
