Services are provided through a network of program partners and include mental health counseling, emergency shelter, support groups, drug/alcohol assessment and recovery, academic support, vocational training, and specialized services for youth with complex needs.
Foster care support services - under contract with the nj department of children and families, pei kids provides services for children in foster care and their biological families, including supervised family visitation - supervising over 1,600 court-mandated visits each year; and transportation plus transporting children and foster care families to visitations, assessments, medical, therapeutic and other appointments, and to court-mandated activities impacting their care and welfare.
Prevention education workshops - pei kids' school-based primary prevention workshops teach and reinforce personal safety concepts to pre-school through tenth-grade students, school staff and parents through interactive, age-appropriate formats. As the nj child assault prevention designee for mercer county since 1985, pei kids is wellknown throughout the area's public, private, and charter schools.
Crisis intervention for child victims of sexual abuse - the only counseling program of its kind in mercer county, this program has helped more than 6,000 children recover from the trauma of sexual abuse since 1987. The mercer county prosecutor's office refers 95% of its reported child victims (approximately 200 each year) to pei kids.since child sexual abuse adversely affects the entire family, therapeutic components include one-on-one counseling using tf-cbt for the child victim and support groups for child victims and supporting family members. Pei kids also helps prepare victims for court appearances and provides transportation and court accompaniment asneeded. Pei kids charges no fees to program participants.
