Pmhu's music for the future (mftf) program brings community- and creativity-building composition and song-writing workshops to another population in isolation - the incarcerated. Twelve teaching artists, in partnership with the juilliard school extension division and five keys schools & programs, presented our nine-week composition course onsite to 108 students in six facilities in california. The 56 students who completed the full course received school credit and a certificate of completion from the juilliard school. In addition, 16 pmhu musicians presented 14 in-person, interactive concerts at the nycdoc facility on rikers island, serving approximately 115 individuals.

The novel voices (nv) distance learning program provides international community music organizations with free access to live, virtual music lessons, master classes and teacher-training workshops, taught by faculty members of leading u.s. Conservatories. 20 artist-teachers led 36 masterclass presentations for 94 participants, taught 50 hours of music theory classes, and provided 600 individual lessons for students in two locations: the edward said national conservatory of music and the ghetto classics community music school.

Expenses: $83KGrants: $10K

Other program services include public concerts and an arts leadership program. 10 pmhu artists presented interactive classical music concerts in 5 different venues for 335 patrons, as well as 10 concerts for 350 people in schools, hospitals, skilled nursing and retirement homes, and hospice care. Pmhu was also contracted to bring educational programming to justice-involved youth in new york city, in which 22 musicians performed 20 concerts that reached over 400 participants.
