St. James family center maintains a shelter for women and children who are victims of domestic violence. The family center also provides information and support such as legal advocacy, medical and social services, referrals and counseling, while working with the wahkiakum county sheriff's department and prosecuting attorney's office.

St. James family center is the primary provider of childcare services to the community.
